In addition to motorboating and sailing, other marine sports such as windsurfing, diving, waterskiing, recreational fishing and the use of other personal watercraft all have strong followings. Related industries, including marine electronics and marina construction, are also playing important roles.
Against this backdrop, the 36th Tokyo International Boat Show, the biggest and most important marine leisure exhibition in Asia, was held for five days, from February 7 through 11, at Tokyo Big Sight in the Tokyo International Exhibition Center in Ariake. The theme of the show was "Fun in the Paradise of Outdoor Sports, The Sea!"
Along with marine leisure-related companies, a wide spectrum of businesses serving other sports and leisure-related areas, including outdoor sports such as recreational fishing and camping, leisure vehicles and sports apparel, participated in the International Boat Show as exhibitors- 160 Japanese and foreign companies in all. The 36th Boat Show attracted some 1 12, 000 visitors. The exhibition thus proved as successful as expected.
The 36th Tokyo International Boat Show was organized by the Japan Boating Industry Association with the support of the Ministry of Transport and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Following the 36th Tokyo International Boat Show, the 12th Osaka International Boat Show is scheduled to be held for four days from March 6 through 9 at the International Exhibition Center (Intex Osaka) and is also organized by the Japan Boating Industry Association.
